BROADCAST MARKETING
NBC Connecticut Celebrates 70 Years
For WVIT’s 70th birthday, I produced, wrote, and edited an image spot focused on taking our audience down memory lane. we wanted to remind them of what we’ve seen together, the familiar faces that have come and gone, and of course, to thank them for 7 decades of loyalty and trust.
News 8 Sports Content Promotion
Local sports are meant for local television. The important part is on the promotional level where you need to have them stand out and get people saying “I want to tune into that”. Here are two drastically different approaches to promoting our sports content. The left is a hype video for our coverage of Hartford Athletic soccer. The right is a promo shot on a drone highlighting the coverage of the Travelers Championship by the News 8 team. I served as a field producer for both of these and the editor for the golf promo.
Network Program Marketing
Some of the amazing opportunities I have had at NBC Connecticut include the chances to write promotional material for our Network-level talent. Above are a couple of examples where I wrote the copy, edited, and did the graphic design. One is a Dateline in Daytime custom tune-in spot (left). The other is a Face the Facts / Meet the Press election combo spot (right).
News 8 “Home” Promo
A GLIMPSE OF THE DRIVING FORCE BEHIND WTNH NEWS 8’S EFFORT TO CONTINUE TO BE CONNECTICUT’S NEWS LEADER.
The goal of this spot was to highlight the Connecticut people, raising them on a pedestal as they are the driving force behind what we do at News 8. The goal of journalism at any level is to inform the audience and ask the questions that are on the mind of the public. News 8 prides itself as a pillar of the community and it is those very people that welcome us into their homes via the television. This spot is an ode to our never ending effort to serve them, and our gratitude for the trust they put in us. They make up home, and we are glad to be a part of it.
Weather Marketing
There is arguably no more important brand for a local news station than its weather team. Above are two spots I helped produce, shoot and edit during my time at WVIT (left) and WTNH (right) in Connecticut. For NBC Connecticut, we wanted our Meteorologists to speak directly to the audience. For News 8, a spot produced during the COVID-19 pandemic, we felt a graphic approach to a team spot was the right call, when social distancing concerns were abundant.
